Hemma Hos Arkitekten mid-season review

Swedish tv channel SVT has released episode 4 of 6 of its tv-show Hemma Hos Arkitekten and thus I thought it would be a stellar opportunity to review the first three episodes and key inspirational strands.

For those who have yet to experience the show, the concept of the series is to visit a famous Swedish architect and see how they live themselves. I guess for purposes of comparison, the show then examines another project by the same architect, reviewed by the Swedish ‘house’ architecture critic Mark Isitt.

Episode 1 - Martina Eriksson

Interesting approach to using the typology of traditional fishing sheds organised in a cross for shelter and solar gain. A very unique house with quirky outdoor spaces for showering and cooking.

Episode 2 - Gert Wingårdh

Beautifully elegant and annoyingly simple. Modest materials, strong colours and a respect for the surroundings create the DNA for this building.

Episode 3 - Sanna Hederus

Consistent use of timber and a modern and complementary extension to the existing house make this building a real favourite.
