Broadcasting Prison, Edinburgh
In a dystopian future where the Old Town of Edinburgh is under siege, a state of emergency has produced a controversial prison. The architecture accomodates broadcasted prisoners as they participate in gladiator games on an arena on the top floor, overlooking the urban disaster surrounding them. In the middle of the tower is a light-well to encourage the element of survival. The idea of spectacle is central to the project.
